Ensuring the health and safety of all participants
A. Pre-Departure Preparation:
Medical Records Review: Obtain and review the medical records of all delegation participants, noting any existing conditions, allergies, or medication requirements.
Medical Supplies Inventory: Prepare a comprehensive medical kit tailored to the delegation’s needs, including first-aid supplies, common medications, and any specific items required for known medical conditions within the group.
Emergency Response Plan: Develop an emergency response plan that includes protocols for handling common medical emergencies, information on the nearest hospitals and clinics in Moscow, and contact details for local emergency services.
Health and Safety Briefing: Coordinate with the organizing team to conduct a health and safety briefing for participants before departure, covering topics like food safety, common health risks in Moscow, and how to avoid them.
B. On the Ground:
Availability: Ensure you are easily accessible to the delegation members at all times, providing contact information and being on-call for any medical concerns.
Daily Health Checks: Conduct daily health checks if necessary, especially for participants with known health issues, to monitor their well-being and adjust activities as needed.
First-Aid and Acute Care: Provide first-aid treatment for minor injuries or illnesses and manage acute medical situations until further medical care, if needed, is accessed.
Medication Management: Assist in managing and administering medications for participants who require them, ensuring they are taken correctly and on schedule.
Healthcare Coordination: Coordinate with local healthcare facilities for any required treatment beyond first-aid. Accompany participants to healthcare appointments if necessary.
Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding participants’ health information, sharing details only with individuals who need to know to provide care.
C. Health Emergency Situations:
Emergency Medical Response: In case of a medical emergency, initiate the emergency response plan, providing necessary first-aid and coordinating with local emergency services for immediate care.
Communication: Keep the organizing team and, if appropriate, the participant's emergency contacts informed about any medical issues and the steps being taken.
D. Post-Trip:
Health Reports: Prepare and submit a report detailing any medical incidents, treatments provided, and recommendations for future trips.
Participant Follow-Up: Advise participants on follow-up care or monitoring needed after returning home, especially if they received medical treatment during the trip.
